Welcome to the Bentonville Teachers Association (BTA)  Website

We are not a union, and we are not affiliated with the NEA (National Education Association) in any form or fashion.  Read below for more information about BTA, the Arkansas State Teachers Association, and the Association of American Educators.  We are a part of the independent teachers association movement in conjunction with many other great independent teacher associations.

YOU CAN HAVE $2 MILLION WITH US.  See "Benefits" page.

Growth information:

We have grown from 7 members to 180 members in approximately 3 years, and we are still growing very quickly.  We have grown from 33 members to 180 members in the last two years.  Check out the "Testimonials" page to see why school employees join this great organization.

Monthly BTA meeting:

Starting in September, we will have our monthly BTA meeting at the Arvest Conference Center on the Bentonville square every Monday the week before the Bentonville School Board meeting.  The meeting will begin at 5:30 and end at 7:00.  Please, try to make plans to attend if you would like to be more involved in our local association of employees.  We need leaders to help us make this great district even better.  Just email rflowers@teachbta.org if you would like a copy of the minutes from any meeting.  We discuss many issues related to education, answer many questions, and plan a course of action when local issues arise for which we need to take a poll.

General information:

The Bentonville Teachers Association (BTA) is a local affiliate of the Arkansas State Teachers Association (ASTA) and of the Association of American Educators (AAE).  These are non-union, independent, professional education associations offering many of the same benefits to teachers that labor unions provide - but at a fraction of the cost and without the partisan politics and controversial social issues.  ASTA is the state affiliate of AAE.  We are non-profit organizations dedicated to helping education in America.

Grants and Scholarships:

The next deadline for ASTA grants and scholarships is October 31st.  We will give away up to $5,000 each school year at $300 to $500 per grant or scholarship.  Just call toll free, 1-877-742-ASTA if you want an application.

BTA Voluntary local dues:

After joining ASTA-AAE, you can voluntarily pay $10 per year paid to the BTA treasurer (Drew Osborn) or the president (Ronnie Flowers) anytime throughout the year.  This $10 per member pays for snacks at meetings, hand-outs, this website, a BTA post office box, local printing costs, scholarships to local seniors, and local activities for employees sponsored by BTA throughout each year.

Just email rflowers@teachbta.org if you want to know if you have paid your $10 dues for BTA yet.

Dues:  (Sign up before 9/1/08 to save $30 this year)

The dues are $12.50 per month ($150 per year) until September 1st, 2008.  As of September 1st, dues are going up this year for the first time in 5 years due to rising insurance costs.  The new dues cost after September 1st will be $15 per month ($180 per year).
