1.       “I

1. “I joined ASTA because I was looking for a professional organization that would support me as an educator and not promote politics in the process. I feel that ASTA does just that for a minimal cost and maximum benefits. I am very impressed with the philosophy and actions of the organization and am proud to say I’m a member!”

                        --Dalene Magsam (LJHS)

2.  ASTA has an outstanding legal department who gets on things quickly, never leaves you wondering, always gives you a phone number to call or calls you, covers all bases, and goes the extra mile. The fact that this organization uses its money for the good of education by giving up to ten $500 grants/scholarships per year was another reason I joined.”

                        --Drew Osborn (ET)

3.  “I joined because of no political affiliation, increased benefit of liability insurance as well as the benefit of an attorney regardless of whether or not ASTA felt my case was worthy of attention.”

--Lynne Mueller Gronseth (BHS)

4.  I found that I could join a local teachers’ association with no political agenda and with great benefits:  $2 million professional liability insurance, twice yearly grants to teachers, and warm bodies.  Another great advantage—annual dues of only $125 for the first year and $150 after that.  Because payroll deduction is offered, I won’t even notice the $6 or $7 dollars coming out of my check!  It’s a totally win-win situation!

                        --Sandy Karnopp (OHMS)

5.  ASTA upholds many of the values I deem as important as a teachers and a citizen.  It respects education and desires to help the professionals in education.

--Kristine Crownover (CE - Bella Vista)

6.  I joined ASTA because I wanted to belong to an organization that believes the way I do.  There are a lot of things that other groups supports that I do not support.  I get to have my voice represented equally in ASTA.   I joined ASTA because I wanted the $2 million in liability insurance.  Also, when asked to join other organizations, I am happy to be able to say that I am already a part of a great professional teacher’s organization such as ASTA.

                        --Peggy Stevens (SC)

7.  I enjoy the fact that this professional teacher’s association’s main goal is to help education, support teachers, and to make sure that the child comes first when it comes to education.  In ASTA, I feel like I can make a difference.  ASTA brings support personnel, administration, and educators together for that common goal.

-- Ronnie Flowers (BHS)

8.  I felt since I have just returned to teaching, this would be a wonderful opportunity for me to join this organization.  I hope to be able to utilize all its’ benefits.  I feel that it will greatly benefit me as a teacher, and it will benefit the students that I have in my classroom.

--Jennifer Toms (TJ)
